Loop Level Parallelization of a Seismic Inversion Code

چکیده
We present a parallel implementation of a seismic inversion code. Parallelism is exploited at the loop level within the nite diierence modeling, as this is the most time consuming part of the code. We give details of our implementation, and present numerical results. We have reached a performance of 750 MMops on one processor, and over 4 GGops on 16 processors, on a Cray C90.

A 1.8 trillion degrees-of-freedom, 1.24 petaflops global seismic wave simulation on the K computer
We present high-performance simulations of global seismic wave propagation with an unprecedented accuracy of 1.2 s seismic period for a realistic three-dimensional Earth model using the spectral element method on the K computer. Our seismic simulations use a total of 665.2 billion grid points and resolve 1.8 trillion degrees of freedom. To realize these large-scale computations, we optimize a w...

Seismic inversion is an established approach to model the geophysical characteristics of oil and gas reservoirs, being one of the basis of the decision making process in the oil&gas exploration industry. However, the required accuracy levels can only be attained by dealing and processing significant amounts of data, often leading to consequently long execution times. To overcome this issue and ...

Here in, an application of a new seismic inversion algorithm in one of Iran’s oilfields is described. Stochastic (geostatistical) seismic inversion, as a complementary method to deterministic inversion, is perceived as contribution combination of geostatistics and seismic inversion algorithm. This method integrates information from different data sources with different scales, as prior informat...
متن کاملComparing Geostatistical Seismic Inversion Based on Spectral Simulation with Deterministic Inversion: A Case Study
Seismic inversion is a method that extracts acoustic impedance data from the seismic traces. Source wavelets are band-limited, and thus seismic traces do not contain low and high frequency information. Therefore, there is a serious problem when the deterministic seismic inversion is applied to real data and the result of deterministic inversion is smooth. Low frequency component is obtained fro...
